Conte want's four new signings before the window closes

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants the club to make more signings before the window closes at the end of the month. This is news brought to us by Captain Obvious.

Every time the press get to talk to Conte at the moment all they want to talk about is transfers and signings, be it about Nemanja Matic being sold to Manchester United, missing out on Romelu Lukaku to Man United, the fracas with Diego Costa and his future at the club, or the size of Chelsea's squad, and it was no different when he was on Sky Sports this morning. I suppose the transfer window is open and the season hasn't started yet.

You had Gary Neville asking about the sale of Matic to Man United and how he is delighted with the deal but you could tell that Conte wasn't happy, it was clear didn't make the decision to sell to a rival but apparently since the pre-season he hasn't wanted to talk about Matic, so it might just in part be he is fed up of talking about a player who isn't his player anymore. Can't say I blame Conte for not being happy that he was sold to a  rival, I'm not happy that Matic has been allowed to join a title rival, weakening us while strengthening them. It is a very very strange deal and one that could come back to haunt the club.

Elsewhere in the conversation on Sky Sports Conte said;
“Also I hope to improve our squad, the transfer market is not finished and we want to be competitive and we want to try to fight for the title.”
And
“I think most importantly is my club knows very well which are our priorities and I hope to try to work, to improve our squad, to improve our quality and then to be ready to fight for this season.”
First off he and the club are fast running out of time if they are to be ready for the start of the season, Chelsea's first game is on Saturday at home against Burnley which means realistically any new signings would not be done in time for them to be eligible to play. They really don't look ready at the moment.

Secondly I hope the club knows what the priorities are and that they act to get them which I'm not so sure they have in the past. Like I mentioned above, Chelsea's first game is on Saturday and the squad is looking very thin, Conte doesn't look happy, Eden Hazard is out injured and basically this is no time to be bickering or dawdling over who to sign or what targets to go after.

Thirdly I'm happy to hear that Conte wants the squad improved so that it's at a standard where Chelsea can fight to retain the Premier League title, especially with the signings the two Manchester clubs have made.

Which leads onto nicely to why the press are saying Conte wants four new signings before the window closes. This is going on the idea that Chelsea need a new midfielder, an attacking midfielder/winger, a wing-back and a striker. It's hard to argue with that, Chelsea could do with a player in each of those positions either as back-up/rotation or to actually challenge for a first-team place.

In terms of names there's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley, Renato Sanches, Alex Sandro, Serge Aurier, Joao Cancelo and Fernando Llorente that Chelsea are rumoured to be interested in.

It looks like it is going to be a busy end to the transfer window for Chelsea.
